Find the first Leather
Explore the chests around the Hammer room. This gives you a way to obtain Leather before building the Workbench that consumes it. Follow the Hammer bypass route if the rusty grate is still blocking your way.

Keep the first Leather for this station if you want a repeatable crafting route.
Turn Rats into more Leather
- Obtain Rats while exploring.
- Process them through Crafting to get Animal Hide and Raw Meat.
- At the Workbench, select Leather and use 2 Animal Hide for 1 Leather.
Use the Workbench for the final conversion. Processing a Rat is the source of the hide, rather than the final Leather recipe.
